چکیده

Climate change is affecting water resources in the Mediterranean region. In olive orchards, irrigation use efficiency could be increased by accounting for trees’ alternate bearing behaviour and growth-stage sensitivity to drought. The main objective of this study examine tree phenology, morphology physiology “on” “off” productive years improvement scheduling. A regulated (RDI) a sustained (SDI) deficit treatment were applied ‘Koroneiki’ orchard Cyprus. Flowering occurred on 11 May 2019 27 April 2021, which was caused lower temperatures 2019. Kc season, computed from daily balance observations, 0.37 (38% canopy cover) 0.41 2021 (62% cover). Irrigation treatments did not significantly affect plant stem potentials. years, shoot elongation ceased early season potential towards end September (−4.0 MPa) than year. Stem recovery year indicated that less 35% ETc fall. Water savings RDI 24–32% 48% relative SDI, with no statistically significant effects yields.

Seasonal changes in carbohydrate and nitrogen contents of olive trees ʻFishomiʼ cultivar in several parts under alternate bearing conditions

Some olive cultivars possess high tendency to alternate bearing, which have a minus economic effect on olive industry. The experiment was performed in an olive orchard located in Shiraz region. Monthly monitoring of concentrations of unstructured carbohydrates (glucose, fructose, sucrose, mannitol and starch), protein, nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus in leaves, branches and roots of olive tr...

Changes of free polyamines in the leaves and stems of ‘Kinnow’ mandarin tree as affected by alternate bearing

In order to investigate the seasonal changes and the possible role of the free polyamines in the leaves and stems on the alternate bearing habit of the ‘Kinnow’ mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco) trees, a comparative study was conducted to analyze the levels of free polyamines  (putrescine, spermidine and spermine) in the leaves and stems tissues of “on” and &ldquo...

Changes of phenolic compounds and non-structural carbohydrates on alternate bearing cycle in ‘Kinnow’ mandarin trees

In this study we have demonstrated the variations of carbohydrates and phenolic compounds present in the leaves and stems of ‘Kinnow’ mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco) trees in alternate bearing cycle and the possible involvement of these compounds to flower bud formation process. The amounts of these compounds were determined in the leaves and stems of “on” and “off” trees  monthly  from Nov...

Seed yield and some physiological traits of safflower as affected by water deficit stress

Safflower (Carthamustinctorius L.) is an oilseed crop adapted to drought prone arid and semi-arid environments. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of water deficit stress on antioxidant activity, membrane stability index (MSI), leaf chlorophyll content, leaf area index (LAI) and their relationship with seed yield using 64 safflower genotypes grown under normal and water defici...
